Scope for submission

Research in "Green" wireless communications is still at an early stage. Wireless-over-fibre and all-optical wireless technologies can already be considered green in offering reduced energy consumption relative to alternative wireless access solutions.

It is therefore not necessary that contributors consider their current research agenda as specifically green, only that they feel that their research may have merit in terms of further reductions in energy consumption.

GROWAN is intended to be a pathfinder event that draws together diverse ideas to identify promising new research directions and to create new collaborations in the field.

Submission is encouraged in any one of the related domains below (but not limited thereto):

  • S1 : Green Wireless Access Networks & Home Networks

  • S2 : Strategies for reducing power consumption and carbon footprint

    • At physical and network layers, e.g. switching on/off of coverage cells
    • Energy scavenging, frequency-agile systems and cognitive radio
    • Better impedance matching and better electro-optical conversion  efficiency for external modulators and laser diodes for reduced conversion loss. New devices with advanced technologies.
    • Integration technologies and packaging
  • S3 : Innovative system & network architectures

    • WDM-PON-ROF, optical generation, photonic mixing

  • S4 : Distributed Antenna Systems & Pico/femto-cellular Networks

  • S5 : Signal processing techniques for optimized power consumption

    • Linearisation

  • S6 : Device Technologies

    • RF and optoelectronic components
    • Un-cooled devices and monolithic integration of cooling systems

  • S7 : Analogue vs. Digital

    • modulation formats
    • spectral efficiency

Edition Guidelines

You may submit a paper and/or a poster according to the following guidelines:

Papers : Each paper must comply with the following Microsoft Word template (2-4 pages).

Posters : Each poster should be A0-type

Online Submission

All papers must be submitted online
no later than
MAY 29, 2012

In order to use the online submission application, an EasyChair account is required. You can create one, free of charge, by signing up at EasyChair.

Reviewing

All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed :

  • by at least two members of the Technical Committee
  • on the basis of scientific quality, relevance and clarity.

Reviewing results will be notified by June 3rd, 2012

Recommendations

For organisational purposes, it is essential that all papers are submitted by May 29, 2012.

Each submitted paper should be

  • original work that has never been published or due to be published elsewhere;
  • clear, concise and relevant to the announced call.

Conference Publication Information

There is no full-paper conference publication. However, a collection of the summary papers will be made available to all participants in electronic form, together with presentation material from consenting contributors (for download from a password-protected area of the website).
