Call for Papers (open through April 29, 2011 May 10, 2011)

Scope for submission

Research in "Green" wireless communications is still at an early stage. Wireless-over-fibre and all-optical wireless technologies can already be considered green in offering reduced energy consumption relative to alternative wireless access solutions.

It is therefore not necessary that contributors consider their current research agenda as specifically green, only that they feel that their research may have merit in terms of further reductions in energy consumption.

GROWAN2011 is intended to be a pathfinder event that draws together diverse ideas to identify promising new research directions and to create new collaborations in the field.

Submission is encouraged in any one of the related domains below (but not limited thereto):

  • Green Wireless Access Networks & Home Networks
  • Strategies for reducing power consumption
at physical and network layers, e.g. switching on/off of coverage cells
  • Innovative system & network architectures
    WDM-PON-ROF, optical generation, photonic mixing
  • Distributed Antenna Systems & Pico/femto-cellular Networks

  • Signal processing techniques for optimized power consumption
    Linearisation

  • Device Technologies
    RF, Optoelectronic components

  • Strategies for reducing energy consumption
Energy scavenging, frequency-agile systems and cognitive radio

  • Other
    analogue vs digital, modulation formats

Edition Guidelines

You may submit a paper and/or a poster according to the following guidelines:

Papers : Each paper should comprise at least 2 pages.

For publishing purposes, your document must comply with the following Microsoft Word template

Posters : Each poster should be A0-type

Reviewing

All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed :

  • by at least two members of the Technical Committee
  • on the basis of scientific quality, relevance and clarity.

Reviewing results will be notified by May 23, 2011

Recommendations

For organisational purposes, it is essential that all papers be submitted by April 29, 2011.

Each submitted paper should be

  • original work that has never been published or due to be published elsewhere;
  • clear, concise and relevant to the announced call.

Conference Publication Information

There is no full-paper conference publication. However, a collection of the summary papers will be made available to all participants in electronic form, together with presentation material from consenting contributors (for download from a password-protected area of the website).

Authors are also encouraged to consider submitting full papers to:

Annals of Telecommunications
Special Issue
Wireless-over-Fibre, a promising technology for sustainable ambient networks
Deadline for manuscript submission : June 30, 2011

Interested authors may deliver their full paper manuscripts to one of the guest editors at the Symposium (Jean-Louis De Bougrenet, Patrice Pajusco, John Mitchell).
