He graduated from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble in 1984 and received the Doctorat National (Ph.D.) in Fluid Mechanics in 1988. He spent three years as a post-doctoral research associate at the NASA/GSFC/Wallops Flight Facility, USA. He has experience in applied mathematics, physical oceanography, electromagnetic waves theory and its application to ocean remote sensing. He is currently responsible for the Oceanography from Space Laboratory, IFREMER.
